I vaguely want to write fanfics about ff7, but I also have no interest in filling in story details from Before Crisis, Advent Children etc.

Also, I'm like a grown up now, and grown ups don't write fanfics.

Loads of so called 'grown ups' write fan fics. I know of at least three.

I say do it. It might be fun. Writing needs to be fun because if it's not fun, then it's work and if it's work you'll come up with any excuse not to do it.

Write an FF7 fan fic if you want, have a blast experiencing and reimagining the characters however you see fit. Don't ever feel ashamed of writing what you want to write.
